Best 5 Mirror Designs in the Industry
Mirrors have been around for a very long time (from 6000 BC to be exact) when the first manufactured mirror was made out of polished stone and naturally occurring volcanic glass. Of course, over time the process of creating a mirror has evolved and different cultures have transformed and perfected the final product ever since. If you are interested in a broader history of the mirror, have a read here.
Why this post about mirrors I hear you asking? Well, in this beautiful industry, mirrors play a major role in creating amazing interiors and atmospheres. Simply put, a mirror enhances an interior and every space should have at least one piece included in the whole scheme.
Besides the obvious aesthetic reasons, mirrors have also been used indoors for two main reasons:
For enhancing the natural light inside a room.
Sometimes your room or your house is positioned in places where it does not capture the maximum light that can be provided by the Sun (i.e - a house facing North vs the South). In architecture is a well-known fact that if you wish to have the best (and most) possible natural light, you build that house facing South (or at least have the rooms you want to have the most light facing that way). But let's come back to mirrors. In a small space that is poorly lit naturally or is facing North, a mirror can come in handy because it helps to reflect the natural light coming in through the window. As a result, it bounces the light throughout the room, making it more seem brighter. For a maximum effect, you can place your mirror near the window.
For creating the feeling of space.
A mirror can help create a sense of depth to any interior, making a smaller room feel bigger in size. Have you ever been in a bathroom that had full-length mirrors on 2 walls? Not only does that create an "infinite effect" by replicating the interior numerous time, but as a bonus, it also helps alienate that sensation of being in a very tight space (which I would say it's a win-win for anybody feeling uncomfortable in such environments).
As I couldn't just leave you hanging, I've put together a small list of my favourite mirror designs out there, that might work wonderfully in any type of space.
